Jaroslav Pelikan, “Acts” (Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible)

I really enjoyed this book, one reason being the large amount of Greek from Acts quoted in it.  The series apparently — as the name of the project suggests — focuses heavily on theological issues, but it is not too abstruse.  The author — who I believe he was raised Lutheran but converted to Eastern Orthodox — takes the text seriously and honestly.  There is no political correctness in the book, and indeed a couple of digs at it (206, last paragraph; 214, last sentence).

An interesting fact from the book:  In addition to the medical words in Luke and Acts, there is a lot of nautical vocabulary (286-89).
