The three scientists in this video interview recently posted on National Review Online are philosopher of science Stephen Meyer, mathematician John Lennox, and chemist James Tour. The interview is summarized this way:
Moving from the Big Bang and the discovery of cosmic beginnings, to the fine-tuning of the physical constants that make life possible, to the extraordinary complexity and information embedded in DNA, [the three scientists] explore whether these developments point to blind, undirected processes — or to the activity of an intelligent mind. The trio challenges long-held materialist assumptions, revisits classic scientific debates, and reflects on what these questions mean not only for science but for our understanding of human existence and purpose.
You may have read about a movie this spring based on this material. The video interview here runs an hour, and it’s all good, but I particularly enjoyed the discussion of “gratuitous beauty” (starting at 42:15) and how, the more you know about nature, the more amazed you are by it (50:05).
