Patrick Glynn, “God: The Evidence”

This terrific book covers a number of important issues, including the evidence of God from the nonrandomness of the universe; near-death experiences; and faith and health.

The author is a skeptic/atheist turned believer, a former Reagan administration official (arms control), and Harvard Ph.D., then working at the American Enterprise Institute, Ethics and Public Policy Center, and another think tank.   His reassuring book is recommended by Dr. Timothy Johnson (whose book, Finding God in the Questions, I also discuss on this  site); Glynn, in turn, endorses M. Scott Peck (11).

The book’s introduction is great.   Just a couple of off-notes:  I think he’s a little hard on St. Paul’s attitude toward women (151-52) and on the Catholic Church (157-58).
