Go to the Zoo

Following up on the preceding blogpost (“God Showing Off”), if you want to see more of God showing off, then go to the zoo.

Our granddaughter’s recent two-year birthday party was at a city-run quasi-farm, geared to kids and with lots of cows, donkeys, goats, pigs, turkeys, and chickens that you could see up close.  That alone was enough to impress me with God’s handiwork; I imagine that seeing the much more exotic fauna at the zoo would be even more impressive.  Psalm 19 tells us that God’s firmament sings His majesty; so do His creations closer to home.

And I wonder whether the modern erosion in faith is a result not just of scientism but also of a smaller percentage of people (living urban, alienated, secular lives) having immediate experience with much of what commonly triggers human adoration of God (particularly natural wonders, love, and the Word).
